    You must have read my mind.... I too would like to build a 1500mm square unit. Would it be possible to get the drawings for your plates?
    I would do a few mods to the overall height but leverage what you've done thus far..... any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

    Where did you find 40x80 v-material used in your Y-axis, it's not on the openbuilds list of rail material?

    I will share the Gantry Plates drawing soon...still working on it.
    The Y-axis are are 40x20mm rails.

    in your V-build _2 image, It looks like 40x80 stock running in the Y-axis..... yet yo say it's 40x20.... I'm old and confused now....

    BOM = Bill of Materials
    I think you might well need to beef up your X axis.

    with 4 bolt holes, I would think it is 80mm in the vertical.

    Hi, did you release the drawing for the plate ? Realy interesting ! I'm planning to build a 1500x1500 cnc with c-beam... And your plate drawing could be helpfull for me ! Thanks and realy nice design !

    Wow! This thing looks like the landing gear for an Antonov...:confused:

    dakman , that 40 x 80 material is called C-Beam. Look for it in the store.

    Goran crno Hope you have lots of cash for those 80+ v wheels.;)

    If you don't mind a bit of constructive criticism, I have some thoughts:

    It seems kind of odd that you have 24 wheels on each Y axis, and 24 on the Z axis, but only 10 on the X? Although, if you are just cutting foam, you may not need the strength. You could probably get away with just using every other set of wheels and still be plenty strong.

    Also, I might suggest that you beef up the bed somewhat. 20x40's are a bit light for supporting a bed that is 1.5mx 1.5m. You may end up with a bed that sags in the center. I would go to at least 20x60's and add a couple more cross pieces. A Torsion Box would be an ideal bed for this machine.

    Same on your X axis cross braces. I would go with at least 40x40's on the cross braces on the carriage top, and add at least one more brace about halfway down your tall gantry plates. You are going to have huge side-side flex with those tall plates and no cross bracing. Perhaps a pair of 20x80's or even another c-beam. With a frame that large, though, you really have to be aware of flex and resonances.

    And, I hope the plates you have shown in red are not really going to be made of acrylic as they appear to be. For a machine this size, aluminum is a must.

    But that's just my opinion.
