    Hi All,

Can someone clarify the formula to calculate the distance travelled for one full motor rotation on my belt driven system?

I have the V-Slot® Linear Actuator Bundle however I changed the pulleys for the 20 tooth.

    Thanks in advance,
    Charles

    Hi Peter,

I'm aware of this site but I would like to know the calculation without taking into account the stepper.
    Surely it's pretty straight forward?

    Thanks,
    Charles

    Pitch x number of teeth...

Thanks for the prompt responses, however the RepRap Calculator and formula above give me different results:

    Pitch: 3mm
    Number of teeth: 20

    3 * 20 = 60mm

Now according to RepRap, if I full-step (200 for full rotation) with my current setup I get 3.333 steps/mm.

    3.333 * 200 = 666.6 / 10 = 66.6mm

    Where am I going wrong?

Steps per mm IS NOT mm per Rotation. So wont be the same.

Rotation = 60mm. Each mm needs 3.33 steps (per calc). So to move 60mm you need 60x3.33 steps = 199.8 steps. Close enough to 200 steps so all matches. 3mm doesnt divide as nicely as say 2mm GT2 so rounding error on the Prusa Calc explains the missing 0.2 step.
:) See just use the Calculator and call it a day

You can also look up the pulleys belt pitch diameter and take the circumference.
