    Hello,

I'm new and just receive my ooznest OX cnc without a routers. I want now, buy a spindle. As the cnc will be in a bedroom, I would like to save some decibels as more as possible so I would like to buy a water cooled spindle.

The cnc is 1.5*1.5m. I would like to mill mdf, hard wood, plexiglass and if possible, aluminium.

I saw sometimes Huanyang coming for the spindle, is it a good manufacturer? Do you have another manufacturer to suggest?
And also, what kind of motor, 800W, 1500 or 2200W? I could read some issue with the weight of the spindle, does the 2200w to heavy? I like the possibility to use an ER20 collet.

I'm in Belgium, if you have some store to advise, just let me know :)

    Hi,

I believe a 2200w spindle will be to heavy. Has the manufacturer got weight specs for each one?

    5.8kg for the 2200W, 4.4kg for the 1500W and 2.6kg for the 800W.

    What's an acceptable weight?

Edit : I guess the weight issue is about the X axis gantry to bend?

    Hi,

Ok they are quite heavy. I would go no larger than the 800w spindle.

Yes it is a significant weight.

    I can easily find the 1.5 or 2.2KW :/ Not the 0.8KW.

What could I do to avoid the gantry to bend ?

Here is a 0.8KW Kit 110V setups are available "Here" and "Here" to if you can not use a 220V unit.

Thank you, but as I'm in europe, amazon.com doesn't delivery (or at high delivery cost) in belgium.

Sorry about that, I completely skimmed over your location in your first post... A quick search on ebay.be shows a few 0.8KW options that might be worth a look..

    Hi davels.
I noticed you mentioned that this machine is in your Bedroom. You do realise that the CNC is going to be noisy and very dusty as it works? :jawdrop:
Have you taken this in to account? A serious need for a sound cabinet, and a good vacuum would be highly recommended, especially working with MDF! :(

Well, it will not be in my bedroom but in a room who should be a bedroom. But it will be my bedroom next room :sleepy::blackeye:

This is the reason why I want a water cooled spindle, less noisy. I plan to build an enclosure, but before doing it, I wait to check how noisy it is :)

Thank you to advise me

Thx all for your feed back! I order a 2.2KW HuanYang inverter with a 0.8KW HuanJiang spindle water cooled. According to the seller, it works well. As he has 99.9% with more than 2600 orders, I believe him.

Any advise on the bits to use for mdf and acrylic?

    Dave,

How did the 2.2 KW spindle work? Was it too heavy or not? Have you cut any aluminum yet?

    Hi davels,

    I'm also live in Belgium.
    I suppose you have order a 0.8kw with an er11 ?
Do you still have the link to buy the spindle ?
I'm looking to find a seller with a depot in Europe.

On a C-Beam XL, 0.8kw is plenty, correct? And is water cooled quieter?

    Hi Bertrand,
    Thanks for the link.
However it seems they do not have 800W air cooled kits anymore.
Did you end up getting a 1.5kw ?
    Thanks

Perhaps there may a factor equal in importance to rated power or weight of the spindle. Consider that it would be nice if it would handle an ER-20 collet. Spin those 1/2" end mills! The chips look sweet being ejected from the cut! I am still working out and documenting speeds and feeds for my 2.2 KW water cooled spindle on Kyo Sphinx. Yes, the water cooled spindles spin whisper quiet at no load.

    Hi Kasham and welcome.
As you can see, the last entry on this thread was quite some time ago. :(
You might be better to start a new thread of your own, and may get more response.

Some sellers offer a mount, that will of course not be compatible with V-Slot. You'll have to drill and tap their mounts to suit.
Or if you have the 65mm diameter version, consider a 3D printed shim to fit our Router Mount (69-72mm fit)
