    I wonder how the flex of the plastic plates manifested itself since you don't really have any force on the y axis to cause the plate to flex. Unless, of course, you plan to use the machine as hybrid, laser and/or router/spindle.

    I was able to flex it by hand, without too much force. It might have worked just fine, as you said, there won't be any resistance on the machine's axis.

    But I figured, with the back forth motion of the X axis, the last thing I wanted was a slight oscillating X axis support.

    Unless someone else builds this out of UHMW, we will likely never know :D
