I am waiting for my C-Beam to show up and am trying to source some end mills (1/4" and 1/8") but am having issues finding any for a reasonable price.

My secondary question is since I will be running 6061 I know the coating should be ZrN but is that 'required' or 'recommended'. I know NOT to use the wrong coating for what I am cutting but am not sure about no coating.

    Any assistance is appreciated!

Where are you from? You can take end mills made directly for alumin(i)um.

I am a little confused (what's new) I have seen people using TiN coated bits on aluminum but from what I have read, this isn't for AL but for ferrous metals. I have also read that you shouldn't use the incorrect coating for what you are cutting as that will hurt performance, bit life and cut quality.

so the question is, what is the correct coating to use when cutting AL?
