Hi, can someone point me to a good spindle for my OX. I've heard most reference the Dewalt 611 while others reference "Chinese Spindles".

Is there a review available that compares each? Which spindle do you use and why? URL to where you got it would be nice too.

I'm building my first OX and at the moment I need controller board and spindle.

    Thank You

Spindle selection is a function of what you want to do with it so we need a bit more information.

    I am planning to carve:

    • Wood, both soft and hard like maple and oak
    • Carbon fibre, <5mm thick, mostly for quad copter parts
    • I would like to experiment with aluminum for small parts
    • Experiment with some plastics type materials
I do not know how long it will run per job at this time. Noise could be a factor and of course I'm price conscious.

    Thanks You

truthfully with what you want to cut you can pretty much use any spindle...
I have used successfully this router to cut everything you want to cut....
But word of caution as far as I know there isn't a 1/8" collect available for it. So it wouldn't be my first choice but they are cheap 20.00 on sale.
The dewalt seems to be the most popular, I have the bosch colt router. and have the 1/8" collet for it.
to me the Chinese spindles seem like more work than they are worth.
side note for a controller board look at the Arduino cnc control boards for about 30.00 you get everything you need.

    good luck
